So, how do you add data from a different tab in the worksheet? Every mobth? If you click on the pivot table, go to pivot table options and then select change data range.

You would need to create a new dataset and reference that different tab in the new data range and then extend your pivot table to that range. So see my example in the sheet to the right. Do you see how my solution would work? I can't see any formulas in the example. Please see D2:D6. Okay, great. Once you do this, you just extend your pivot table range to include the new column of data and then add it to the pivot table in the field options.

Good, I'm glad it will solve your issue :. Sorry, it requires a bit more work.

Thank you. Is there anything else I can help you with? I was getting the following error in Excel today while trying to prepare a pivot table.

Loved this? Then you’ll love our courses.

When I copy and pasted the data into an entirely new worksheet it worked fine. The original spreadsheet was downloaded from the internet and it seems that excel throws up this error if you try to run the pivot table while the spreadsheet is stored in a temporary folder. I tried this at Office desktop as well as Laptop. Yep, I exported to a spreadsheet from a web-based report and got the error.

As soon as I saved the file in another, non-temp location, it worked.
